Luther junior Ben King Quale to present voice recital

Ben King Quale, Luther junior from Lake Crystal, Minn., will perform a baritone recital at noon Saturday, April 12, in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Music Hall on the Luther campus.

King Quale, son of Debbie and Rick King Quale of Lake Crystal, is majoring in music at Luther. He is a 2011 graduate of Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial High School.

King Quale will perform works by Ernest Chausson, Gerald Finzi, Handel, Mozart and Franz Schubert.

A reception will follow the recital. Both the recital and reception are open to the public.

King Quale is a student of Jacob Lassetter, Luther assistant professor of music, and Jessica Paul, Luther professor of music. He will be accompanied by Kalle Akkerman, Luther junior. His recital partner is Nathan Wiley, Luther junior.

Luther is home to one of the largest collegiate music programs in the nation with six choirs, three orchestras, three bands, two jazz bands and nearly 1,000 student musicians.

Luther students participate in large ensembles, faculty-coached chamber groups, private lessons and master classes. More than 350 music majors study music theory, ear training, history, education, composition, church music and performance.
